Dancers: What To Wear
Boys wear pants or shorts and a solid colored t-shirt. Appropriate footwear.
Younger ballerinas wear black or pink leotards, pink tights & ballet shoes. Hair off the face.
Older ballerinas wear black leotards, pink tights.. No baggy cover-ups. Hair off the face. Ballet or pointe shoes.
Modern, Jazz & Tap students wear Jazz pants, shorts, tank tops, or leotards & tights, black jazz oxfords & black tap shoes.
Hip Hop & Movement students wear
comfortable exercise clothes in which to move! Street shoes are welcome, but no jeans!
Belly Dancers wear comfortable exercise clothes - don’t worry the rest of the belly
dancers will dress you!
Dance Class Policies
Parents are discouraged from observing dance classes. Even little ones will focus better if the parent is not in the room. Dance is a serious discipline at any age, and dancers can be easily distracted. We will schedule special parent days so you can observe the progress your child has made.
We are very excited about the dance program scheduled for the season. Our dance instructors are experienced in the latest dance techniques, body conditioning, and performance! We are delighted with the talent and expertise these instructors bring to the dance program. We continue to inspire
excellence in all our activities; a tradition the Arts Center has always provided.

Please feel free to call if you need help determining which class your child should attend. Parents encourage your sons to participate in movement classes. They increase skill levels for soccer, football, etc. Dance develops balance, strength, and rhythm!
Most importantly, we want our dancers to have fun, enjoy the process of learning, and still have a life outside of dance.

Our dance companies provide an opportunity for dancers to train and learn how to create and perform advanced choreography in all dance styles. The Arts Center Dance Companies have scheduled performances throughout the year. The program includes Advanced and Intermediate Dance Company Divisions.

Creative Dance
It’s fun as kids are introduced to three
dimensional movement. Dance Dudes is a class for boys that love to move, jump & leap. They develop strength and confidence to prepare for sports. Creative dance teaches rhythm, body awareness and movement through space.

Pre Ballet

Tap
Students learn how to make music with their feet, by
creating rhythms, tapping, stomping, flapping and
shuffling, students work to articulate various parts
of the body. Training to count, hear beats, rhythm,
melody, and sounds helps dancers recognize the relationship between sound and movement. Students learn basic tap steps and combinations. Dancers improve musicality, listening skills and poise.

Belly Dancing
Belly dancing is an ancient dance that strengthens the spirit and the core. Sandra Ursino Gould's unique and alluring style reflects an authentic and rare capacity that expresses the essence and ‘soul’ of a dance. Her dance style blends an innate talent with hard
study from the masterful instruction of reputable and renowned Middle Eastern dance instructors from around the country. She has had the fortune to study under the tutelage of Eva Cernik, Natasha, Sadie, Tribal Tique, Urban Tribal, Kassar, Jenna Woods (zills), Zuzanna Del Vecchio, and Elizabeth Ostteen and Chris Chambers of Tribe Marrakech. She has also studied with the Bellydance Superstars; Petite Jamilla (double veil), Sonia, Zoe, Cami Liddle and Jillina, Phoenix and Souhail Kaspar.
Sandra has been working with drummer Brett Gould for a year and a half and recently married him. Brett has performed professionally for 31 years playing a drum kit, and he is been enjoying the new challenge of playing a Doumbek (Middle Eastern Drum). Brett’s knowledge of various modern grooves and learning middle eastern rhythms makes his sound very unique. Brett will join Sandra for her classes class twice a month. You will learn about Middle Eastern rythms and to dance to live and exhillerating drum beats. All skill levels,ages, shapes & sizes are welcome. Dancers develop enhanced muscle strength, balance, flexibility, and confidence.
